NEW CLUB AFFILIATION

England Squash (the new name of our governing body) has introduced a new membership scheme: All clubs in the county will have by now received an information pack of the new affiliation scheme introduced by England Squash (ES). This scheme  changes the way ES raise money to support the game of squash and racketball nationally and at county level. The idea is to involve all players in a similar way to that used in other sports such as golf and tennis (to name but two). This means offering all players a membership of  England Squash as part of their club membership. A small subscription will in future be collected through a player’s club membership fee. In return players will gain access to the national body and receive benefits and information about squash. England Squash feel that with the greater involvement of all the squash playing fraternity a more secure future will be obtained to enable England to retain its world number one position.

From this year, June 2004 to May 2005, the new affiliation is mandatory. It has been optional for the previous 3 years. Essex  sends out invoices for a court rate of £55(max 4 courts) and a player registration of £6.50 per adult, £4.50 per junior. It is the club's responsibility to pay the affiliation, which includes the court and player registration fee. Essex collect the affiliation fees and pass on 87.5% and the players lists to ES. This covers every squash player and not just those playing in the county leagues. Each club member will then be a member of England Squash and receive a membership card. The ESRA has been told  that personal information gathered by the clubs and passed to England Squash will not be given out to anyone, even the insurers who will provide cover for squash players as part of their membership.
