 Celebrating 65 years of Essex Squash
 a Ball was held at  STOCKBROOK MANOR COUNTRY CLUB on SEPTEMBER 20 2003

Anniversary Ball 1938-2003

140 people celebrated the 65^th year of the formation of the Essex Squash Rackets Association at Stockbrook Country Club in September. It was in the midst of that wonderful summer and the evening was typical. A wonderful marquee setting with drinks outside before the dinner, which was really well presented. The wine flowed during a pleasant evening, which was accompanied by several celebrities from the past and present of Essex squash. John Ward and Jeremy Lyon represented the high standard of men of the past, although Jeremy only recently added the world over 60 championship. Barbara Sanderson could match that and Avril Murphy who is a current world champion. Neil Harvey, who coaches Peter Nichol at Connaught, was there too and made a guest of honour speech, illustrating the formation and growth of squash in the county. A special presentation was made to Roger Cearns as retiring chairman, whose family started the whole thing back in 1938.
